I think the main thing you missed was Jasmine, poor fool, believing Essa's story about how they'd found this wonderful new resource that would allow Vexcor to help the other corporations and save their dying world.

I don't know about this show. Perhaps it's the disquiet at Charlie being back in Alpha. I thought Bryon Boxer would target Charlie for his rejuvenating properties, but he's dead.
I mean, I figured the man was evil, but to kill his own grandchildren? Why not kill himself? Could he not kill himself, was his goal to turn 01 into himself? He kills his son's wife and children, people who appeared to like him (01's wife smiles broadly when the old man visits), and then moons over baby pictures of his son? It's too fast a switch in the story line for me.
So, too, with the Papa Louie on death row storyline. Why didn't cut the feed? Why would people believe Essa? What a bizarre way to get a news story out. Or is this just a sign of how gullible the masses of Alpha are, their critical faculties destroyed by the endless grey, gloom, pollution, violence, competition, hunger …
I just feel like this show took the story in a totally different direction — again — and I guess I'm frustrated.
At least, though, I'm catching up on the show after being out of contact for a while (soybean agricultural development again …)

I agree, the new title sequence was definitely a foreshadowing. So much happens in this episode; so eventful and so sad. I was wondering if someone interceded on Charlie's behalf to keep Papa Louie's "confession" going. Did I miss the ending? It cut off at a shot of Essa and then no credits.

I noticed that it was scheduled to continue on after 4 am but since I had awoken during the recording I started from the beginning and then with the truncated ending I quickly hit record for the ad that was on after but it would only go back to begin 4:04 with no CJ ending. I thought that was weird.

There isn't a release date, or even a contract to make a US dvd yet. My fingers remain crossed. Email me and we can discuss getting you a copy of that episode.

Well, I've checked Sci-Fi, Hulu and other sites that might have a full episode of CJ available for replay, but no such luck.

I believe I know what alternative means you speak of and if I have time, will search around those sites.

Richard, to your knowledge, has anyone set a U.S. DVD release date?

I only wish the same team of writers could have been on this since the Pilot. Just goes to show how great a show can be with the right group of people at the helm.

I agree that Vexcorp would have stopped Papa Louis' transmission shortly after it departed the script. There is no explanation for them letting her go on so long unless there is something yet to be revealed next ep.

But Im sure Byron left the company to Essa. Why would he kill 01's family and then hand him the keys to VexCorp? Especially if he suspects any treachery by him?

CJ recorded for me. It ran from 12:02am to 1am. Don't know why it was snipped to 58min.

And yes, we're hoping for a US DVD release too…
