It may also be in NY state since Emerson was reading the NY Post. (Saw that in the ABC site photo gallery)

I deleteted my copy of the episode and for some reason the ABC player doesn't work for me, so I hope you'll excuse me for asking - Was WNKW on while they were watching the news when the lights went out? Thanks! (I'm trying to make a cohesive link between this appearance and the ones in 'Without A Trace', and 'Invasion'. That one will be tough!)

Son of a gun.... I just checked out your other links and NOW realize you've probably already seen those comments about Pete's Dragon anyway. Sorry about that, RA! I came here via Google due to WNKW (making a TV crossover link for it), and didn't realize I'd run into another one of Alan's readers. Small internet!

Yeah, I saw that on Alan's blog and a few others. I am deeply disturbed with myself for missing that homage.

Since I never saw the movie, I can't provide all the details, but apparently this episode was one big tip of the hat to the movie "Pete's Dragon". Character names, the light-house. I think I read it at Alan Sepinwall's blog "What's Alan Watching?", but I'm sure if you google the right combo of info you'll find the source, if you're interested....

ABC takes this off, but adds According to Jim and Scrubs to mid-season, NBC programs 5 nights of Leno @ 10pm? There really was no hope for Pushing Daisies. David E. Kelley said in an interview recently that if anyone at ABC ever actually watched Boston Legal, he was never privy to it. Network TV is just too brain-dead to actually keep, nurture or even understand shows like Daisies or Eli Stone.

That we're losing this show is a travesty. Olive & Emerson last night were so fantastic, I found myself loving their interaction almost as much as I swooned over the plastic wrap kiss (where else can such "chaste" love be so dang hot?).

I watched it last night and couldn't help thinking about how we are losing a very well-done piece of TV artistry. I know we gripe about it a lot but there is nothing on TV like Pushing Daisies.

I loved the plastic wrap kiss scene. That and when Ned forgives Chuck so quickly. Love is so sweet.
